What HP does it take to run 4.50's @ 2525 lbs? We are around 1050 motor...plus nitrous fogger. 1400 sound right?

Anyone heard of using tractor trans oil in a PG? We have a 738 with a PG. Was told by a reputable guy thats what they use. He said that after many passes things show little wear, as compared to ATF and is better suited to the heat. Thanks

» Cam timing?
info.gif Posted by Steve_Place On 9-15-2008 at 10:48 PM
We run 1/8 mile with a 572 BBC, 4.56 gear on 33.5 x 17's. We cross about 6800 or so RPM, 'glide w/shift at 7100 to 7400. 2525 lbs. We run one 600 hp system on a programmer.

What would be the benefit to installing the cam 6* advanced?

INTAKE .849" EX. 798. Our 60' is cooking at 1.09 to 1.14 depending on track prep, etc.

I have noticed the car nosing over somewhat and mentioned we needed some more top end. I didn't know the cam was installed +6*

If you need more info, let me know.

You can NOT set the 12 V. timer on 0.000 delay to activate something. It SHUTS IT OFF instead of instantly coming on. This is printed in the instructions but...

We had our nitrous ignition retard hooked to it and re-set the activation delay to 0.000. Had I left it on 0.003 like it was, everything would've been fine. We cooked a piston and cracked a few others. Be sure to have at least a 0.001 setting on the 12v timer to get functionality. Oh well, season was over due to work schedule anyway.

Make no mistake about it, it is an OUTSTANDING product, just make sure you don't set the delay to 0.000 on the 12v timer output to get it to activate.

Went out to the outlaw track last night to try a few things. Wired in a digiset to control the second stage and was gonna tune on the first stage as well.

First pass...spun the tires, ran a 6:37 @ 109 with a 1.43 60'.

Hot lapped it and tryed another one on the other lane, 6.27 @109 with a 1.40 60'.

Last time out it went 6.17 @110 with the same tune but with 7 psi in the first stage, lowered it down to 6.75 and it seemed lazy out of the hole, barely picking the tires up. Last time out 60' was 1.34-35.

Was gonna pull it back up to 7 and make another run on the first stage but brackets were coming up and I wanted to get a second stage hit with the timer. .8 out on the second kit it went a 5.96 @118. not quite as well as the last time out.

I will say it might have had to do with the air, it was hot, humid, and the air felt really heavy...just seems that with the tune up that I have I should be running around 6 psi on the first shot, 67/63f but when I pull fuel pressure I seem to slow down....

Am I that lean on the motor or is that just he way it is?

» LSM camshafts

Has anyone ever had any dealings with LSM camshafts? I'm thinking of changing cams and they were highly recommended, but they do have a big price tag to go with them. I'm not to fimiliar with them except for what some guys have told me. Also does putting bigger lifters(.904 dia.) and bushing the block really make that much of a difference as far as longevity in the valvetrain?

I was told that one of the troops had it and came a few times to the dragstrip with it.
